1 Creative Day Thursday Until Christmas ~ Paper Bird Ornaments

Hi, Sweet Friends!

There is only this Thursday Until Chrismas! For some of you, this is no trouble and you never may give it a thought until this week of Christmas.
However, many of you are looking at these weeks before Chrismas and making your decorations, creating gifts, and making foods to freeze, can, and give away. It is a busy time in our house from August to Christmas!

This last of 16 posts will be on making Paper Birds.

You will need to have a few things before you start this project.
 #16 Paper Bird Ornaments
Supplies:

A printed copy of the bird pattern
This pattern can be printed 2 x's on one sheet of 8x10" paper.

Printed paper in two patterns that go well together.
scissors
clear tape, like "Scotch Tape"
clear drying glue, like "Elmer's"
glue stick
string or twine
ink pads (Cocoa & Desert Sand) optional
* Another idea is to hang the birds on a branch.
glue stick
string, this one is from JoAnn's

The inks I am using are from Close To My Heart, in Cocoa & Desert Sand.

Directions:
  1.  Begin by drawing out the bird patterns and cutting out the pattern of the bird & wing.
  2. Cut 6 pairs of birds (12 total). Each pair with one bird facing left and one facing right.
3. Lay out the birds and wings as shown in the stacks below.
4. Ink the birds & wings in the Desert Sand all over the birds like shown above. Edge the birds & wings
5. Fold the bird body as shown and cut a slit for the wing's tab.
6. If the cut is too small, recut a bit larger. If it is too large, position the wing the toward the middle of the bird body.
7. Gluestick the tab down on the inside of the bird body. Tape as shown above. The tab of the wing is in the slot of the bird. The wingtip points to the back feathers of the bird.
8. Fold the bird wing so it looks like the bird halves above.

9. Cut all the lengths of the string/twine the same length. 6 pieces in total. Tie a knot at one end of each of the 6 pieces. Leave the other end as it is for now.
10. Position the string/twine as shown above.
11. Put the clear glue around the whole bird. I  use my finger to get the glue to the tiny places. A q-tip would work fine if you don't want glue on your finger. Place the string twine on the bird now.
12. Place the other half of the bird on the glued half that has the string/twine on it. Press the edges together well.
13. Let dry and repeat for all the 6 birds.
14. Tie a loop at the top of all 6 strings/twine. Now they are ready to hang on the Christmas Tree!
