Overcoming The Weight Plateau


Hi, Sweet Friends,

Well, as the topic says, I'm on that Weight Plateau. Yes, I'm still eating well, drinking the suggested 8 glasses of water a day, getting plenty of cardio exercises, but the numbers on the scale are not moving. 

I checked in with MYFITNESSPAL.com to see what they suggested and found this article.

1. Start a Food Diary. I use the one on MFP and it is easy to track, keep calories, and cardio or weight activities. http://myfitnesspal.com

2. Make Sure You Are Not Over Restricting. This means to eat the proper amount of calories and don't skimp to push your body to lose weight. This only makes your body go into Starvation Mode and you won't drop anything, more likely you will gain with just water.
3. Beware Of Health Halos. This means, use portion control, don't just rely on what it "looks like" measuring on the plate. Use measuring cups and measuring spoons to keep portion control.


4. Fill Up On Non-Starchy Vegetables. Like Broccoli, Salad Greens, Peppers, Mushrooms, Cucumbers, and Cauliflower. These you can snack on or even add a few to your plate when you have a meal.500+ Dragonfly Pictures | Download Free Images on Unsplash
5. UNPLUG. This is for those of us tied to our electronics: ie, phone, tablet, laptop, and pc. I know I am that way during my quiet lunchtime. HOWEVER, I kept lunch unplugged today and sat outside on our porch to eat with Rurik, my Service Animal. We watched an orange Dragonfly sit on the tip of the American Flag for the whole 30minutes. It was really pretty with clear wings with orange spots, an orange body, and big orange eyes. It flew away when MAD Hubby came out to visit with us.



6. Take "Me Time". Which would be good with a short walk, curl up with a good book, a yoga class, swim at the pool, write in your Journal, or even start a Blog. I find it truly unstressful, maybe because I was a teacher? :)
7. Sleep. I do know that my stress increases when I don't get the right amount of sleep a night. I wake due to pain each night at about the same time. They suggest not turning on the phone and scrolling through Pinterest or FB, or Playing a Game (which I SO Do, every night), but to read a book, relax with some yoga or stretching, or climbing into a warm bath. 

So, I know these have helped me to think further into my own routine. I think that #3, #4, #5, and #7 will do me some good.
