If You Are Missing Someone This Christmas

 Hi, Sweet Friends,

Christmas is just around the corner and many of us are missing someone we love who is not with us to celebrate. "The sweetest gift is knowing where you are; you're with the Son of God" is a line from this beautiful song by Craig Aven

and a video of The Piano Guys and dedicated to "Annie".

I'd like to dedicate this song to each of your loved ones who are not with you to celebrate Christmas this year. Grief is not a do and done process. It is different with all of us. Something, sadly, I forgot recently.

Though we move on in our lives, our loved one is still with us, in our hearts, in our memories, in our things that belonged to them, and we cherish these memories. Here is a little story that I'd like to share with you.

A treasured coat was accidentally laundered and "the smell of Daddy" was washed away. Disappointed by this normal act of laundering, my granddaughter expressed the need for her uncle to wear the coat while he smoked. (not promoting smoking)

Her Uncle gladly offered and the coat now has a similar smell memory for her. This tiny act of kindness, though small for her uncle, was an enormous pleasure for my granddaughter. She feels her Daddy with her and this is a big comfort to her.

We will miss Leo this Christmas. We gathered to enjoy Christmas Dinner or Christmas Present Opening at the Granddaughters' home. Leo's smile was contagious. His laughter was unique. His love was so large that he took us into his own family as, not just friends, but Grandparents to his beautiful girls. We will meet you in Heaven.

We also lost Doc just before we lost Leo. Doc was a delightful man with a heart of gold. He struggled with illness way before this Corona Virus Year and I have a story about Doc, too.

When Doc had to go into the nursing home, Leo's wife, my adopted daughter (one of them), cared for Doc during his stay. The families and loved ones had been quarantined to keep the virus far away from the residents. Doc's wife, M, would visit every day, through the large glass windows and doors of the nursing home. M would be on her cell phone outside, while Doc would be in his wheelchair, on the phone inside the facility. They couldn't touch or hug. They would touch the glass as a way to be connected. Doc was released home and passed away holding his wife's tender hand.

Sometimes we get to say goodbye and sometimes we don't. But we do know this: if our loved one accepted Jesus Christ as their LORD and Savior, then we will greet them again some day. Sometimes we have go through challenges and hardships to help others along their way. I hope you can be comforted this Christmas. Enjoy the video.

If you wish, you can add your loved ones name in the comments and we will pray for you this Christmas, too.

God Bless you, this day and every day.

Have a Blessed day and remember to be humble, kind, and grateful.

Enjoy! :D
