Grass Clipping For Garden Mulch

Hi, Sweet Friends!
We have a wonderful man come to drop off his grass clippings to our garden every year. Starting in Spring a year ago, we had Joe come and drop off his lawn clippings. As it was, Joe was having to pay a place to take his clippings and this became a win-win for all of us! Joe has created a huge mound of wonderful grass clippings for us to use all over the gardens. We will be using it this Fall on all the gardens. We will wet them with the garden hose as they decompose and encourage decomposition.
Grass clippings: The much-needed ingredient in fresh grass clippings is water, which allows it to break down quickly when you using grass clipping as mulch. As the grass clippings will break down as it decomposes and will release the much-needed nutrients into the soil. This will include a good amount of each nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium. Taking this step to increase nutrients into the soil in the Fall will enable the gardens to get a jump-start in Spring.

I have to say that this "Grass Mound" in our front yard is quite a sight and we have hand many passers-by comment on it. "What are you doing with the pile"? , "Do we want help moving it"? and the funny one is LiL Granddaughter who says, "That grass hill really stinks, Grandma!" I always giggle before saying, "It's supposed to stink" and I smile really big!
And as big as Rurik is, this "Grass Hill" is even bigger!

We had started mulching the gardens to enhance this area the is filled with silt, clay, and shale. We will be adding fill dirt.

Enjoy!
