Super Hero "Bat Signal" Knee Patch ~ Creative Day Thursday

 Hi, Sweet Friends,

Today, I'm going to show you how to patch a hole in the knee of a pair of jeans. It is not as hard as it looks and I have a tutorial of photos to help you through it. :)
Bat-Signal Jean knee patch, CJD.Sign

Directions:
1 piece of fabric; a rectangle the width of the pant leg and 1 inch wider than the hole to be patched.
I'm using this Bat Signal in the middle of this piece. I will use the whole thing to add cusion to the knee hole that will be fixed.
Hand stitch around the area where the hole will be fixed; mine is the signal in the middle. I used a running stitch around the bat signal. I used a whip stitch around the edge of the whole piece of cloth.
Slide the "patch" inside the pant leg and down to the knee hole, or wherever the hole is on your project. Center the patch and stitch a running stitch around the area and thru the patch. Keep one hand inside the pant leg to keep the patch flat. Becareful not to stitch your hand. OUCH!
Make a complete circle or square and tie it off in a knot that is under the fringed hole.
Stitch over the running stitches in an even pattern from the outside like shown above.
continue going around the patched area like in the photo above.
Try to keep the stitches even and close.
Your almost done!
Secure the stitching by running the needle under the stitching as shown and clip the thread close to the stitching to secure it.
Don't clip the stitching.
I pushed the hole open toward the stitching to show more of the "Bat Signal" patch. I trimmed off any long threads from the frayed jeans.

Sewing the "Bat Signal" into Grandson's Jeans!
He loves them and no more holes in the knees.
SO CUTE!!

Turn the pant leg to the inside and now you will be making the inner cusion with the rest of the patch.
Put the needle with thread into the end of the fabric and make running stitches around the patch. Pull the stitching up to gather the material as you go.
It looks a bit wonkie at first, but it will pull together nicely.
Pull it all into the center with the thread like in the above photo.
I secured the stitching by making stitches like I used on the front, across the bunched fabric here.
Secure with a knot and trip close to the stitching.

It makes a cushion and will give strength to the patch.
Turn the pant leg right side out and it is done!
I know it is the thing now for ripped jeans, but this is so cute!!

P.S. Grandson and his mom love it!
And Precious just had to be in the picture! She love to inspect every craft I make!

Join me in being Creative!
Enjoy!
