A Fun Adventure At The Sopris Alpaca Farm

Hi, Sweet Friends!

We took a trip up to the Sopris Alpaca Farm, in New Castle, Colorado, to see the new Alpaca Babies!
There were 3 newly born and one due to be born on the day of our visit.
We didn't stay long enough for the birth, but did enjoy all the babies,
the moms,
and in the far pen, the dads had to be penned away from the females and young males. All the Alpaca have been sheered for their fleece. It is extremely soft and very expensive.
This is Brownie. He was born just 2 days before this photo was taken.

This is Brownie's Mom. She has the biggest eyes.
Here the owner, Cory Wesson, is weighing the newest member of the herd.
The females eat right out of your hand. Some of them are very shy.
And some of them are not shy at all, like this sweet girl.
The girls and boys have to be separated. The boys are more aggressive.
I love the cute round faces and big bright eyes of the Alpaca.
I didn't catch the name of this one, but I know from the owner that it is some dessert name!  :)
A long day for little "Brownie". The owner said that children got to name the babies. She also said, most of the children pick food names. We laughed at hearing this! Totally cute! I would name the little girl below "Marshmallow!"
The newest member of the herd.
This little one was a couple of days old and spent most of his time very close to his Momma.

This pretty girl had just been born 24 hours earlier. She was very clingy to her Momma.
This little boy and his Mom were chillin' after full tummies. This little guy was just a few days old.
Lots of children were having fun feeding the Alpaca Moms & the older female Alpaca.
I got to feed this pretty Momma Alpaca! It is quite like feeding horses, only smaller.
Kim and Cory Wesson have raised Alpaca since 2012. The herd has many beautiful ribbon winning Alpaca. The Sopris Alpaca Farm Gift Shop is located in this 1800s cabin. You can purchase Alpaca food to feed the Alpaca. They have lots of Alpaca & Llama items to purchase. The fur is so soft!
We had an enjoyable day at Sopris Alpaca Farm! Such beautiful animals!
