Saving Mr. Banks ~ Movie Review

Hi, Sweet Friends,

I decided to start a topic on Movie Reviews. This is something that I think is really important to us as Parents & Grandparents. We have watched many many movies. Not only are we struggling with the descriptions of movies, but we also can't seem to get good reviews for good movies and get trapped in the bad movies that rate good reviews.

When picking out a movie to watch, what do you look for? Is it the actors, subject matter, location, director, genre, ratings, or all the above?
Of course, they all seem to matter at some point. Some actors aren't my choice, the subject may be one I don't enjoy, I'm not a fan of horror, and movies I watched as a kid are rated differently than when I was a kid. That part is frustrating. We are indoctrinating kids to violence at such a young age now.

Ok enough on that.

The first movie we watched last night.  A 2013 Movie, rated PG-13

Saving Mr. Banks ~ a Walt Disney Movie.

This movie ranked high with us. Though it may not be suitable for younger children. It really isn't a Disney type cutesie movie, but more like a biographical documentary on the story behind the movie, Mary Poppins. Starring actors Tom Hanks, as Walt Disney, Emma Thompson, as Mrs. P. L. Travers, Paul Giamatti, as Mrs. Travers' Driver, and Colin Farell, as Mr. Banks.

Our Take Away...
This is a biography of the writer of Mary Poppins and other novels, Mrs. P. L. Travers, born Margaret Agnes Goff, who struggles while trying to sell the movie rights to Walt Disney in the 1970s for the musical movie, Mary Poppins. The story is a feel-good story with insights into the author's life growing up in Australia. Mrs. Travers adored her father and a nanny, her great aunt, that she wrote as the main character, Mary Poppins. Her father, was the character, Mr. Banks. The author struggles to give up the rights to her Mary Poppins story.  We give this movie 5STARS!

A bit more... Though she didn't marry, at age 40 she did adopt a boy named Camillus. And Mary Poppins is a series of 8 books! I'll be reading them shortly! I'm looking forward to Mary Poppins in the Kitchen.
Enjoy!
