Company Green Beans ~ Friday Foods

Company Green Beans
 
Hi Sweet Friends,
Green beans have been a staple with our dinner for as long as I can remember. I make a Green Bean Casserole for Thanksgiving and for Christmas Dinners, but for company I wanted something a bit more favorable.
These delicious green beans have a twist with bacon, scallions and garlic. 


Ingredients:
1 lb. lean bacon
2 cloves garlic, minced
4 scallions, green ends sliced
4 lbs. fresh green beans, we used our fresh stringless beans.
1 cup water
Directions:

In a large fry pan, add sliced bacon, sliced scallion greens, and minced garlic, fry on med high heat till lightly brown, but not crisp.
Add rinsed green beans, sliced and ends cut off to the pan. Mix around to get them coated. Add the water and bring to boil. Cover and reduce heat to simmer.

Cook till green beans are tender. Between 1-2 hours, depending on the desired tenderness of the beans. Serve.
We served this for a Sunday Family Dinner and it was a big hit. Not something we serve often, but for company it is a great change up!
