Hubby's Beef Stew ~ Friday Foods Special

 Hi, Sweet Friends,

Well, I finally wrangled the recipe for Hubby's Beef Stew and it is so delicious! I shared this with my Cousin Sissy and I just had to do a post on it. I'm hands down favoriting this one! The 3 of us ate on this for 3 days. The pup got the leftover gravy on his dinner.

Hubby's Beef stew:
1.5 to 2 lbs. of beef, any cut, but chuck roast is best.
Trim off all excess fat. Cut into 1/2 inch cubes.
Coat in flour (flour, salt, and pepper).
Brown beef (about 5 to 10 minutes sauteing) in 1/4 cup oil (sunflower, safflower or peanut oil).
Stew beef for 2 to 3 hours in 4 quarts of water with 2 bay leaves.

Add veggies:
 5 stalks of celery
5 to 6 carrots
6 to 8 potatoes
3 to 4 onions
Cut all veggies into 1/2 inch pieces.
Cook another hour or so until carrots are tender.
Thicken with flour and water(cold) mixture(Slurry).

Crock Pot Method:
In the crockpot (slow cooker), put everything in all the same time, after browning the meat. Cook on high for 4 to 5 hours. Check meat to see if it is tender, may take an hr or so longer. If meat is frozen, start early am and cook all day, like 10 to 12 hrs.

Hubby likes to have this Beef Stew with sliced bread & butter. I enjoy a small side salad. When the kids were all home, we served it with both a salad and bread.

Enjoy!
