A True Christmas Story

Hi Sweet Friends!
Merry Christmas!

I wanted to tell you a Christmas story!
This story is about a good man who loves to make toys for the orphanage in his town. And in his later life, this talented man gives back to the community his love of the woodcraft.

This older man has worked with wood for most of his life since he was a teenager. He started out making models of cars, airplanes, boats, and military vehicles, in his parent's workshop, in the basement of his house. When he wasn't delivering newspapers, hanging out with his friends, or playing sports, he was busy building something.

In his early life, with his young family, he built remote control models of airplanes and flew them with his young son's. These "RC" Models, Radio Controlled Models, were a fun way to spend time with his children. The boys loved these outings.

He developed a love for woodworking and built many projects for his workshop and for his home. As he and his family changed with life situations, he began to make more time with his, now blended family, and building furniture. He eventually built tables, benches, beds, cabinets, shelves, and end tables.

One year, for Christmas, he built a huge three story, doll house with moveable halves on wheels for his little girl. The house was painted white with a green double front door and shutters. Four pillars on the front porch graced this Colonial style dollhouse. The roof also was painted green. By the way, when his little girl bought her first home, it was green with white shutters and the roof was green too, true!

In the inside of this awesome dollhouse, there was carpet, textured wallpaper, and moveable Victorian Furnishings. A pink bedroom, filled with a bolstered bed, mirrored vanity with stool, settee', dresser in the French Provencal style, was her absolute favorite room! The living room featured big windows, red velvet curtains, a red velvet Victorian couch and loveseat, two wing-back chairs, a fireplace, landscape framed pictures hung on the walls, and a white bearskin rug laid under a faux marble-topped oval coffee table, and it also had two identical end tables. The dining room table was in the French Provencal style with beautiful red velvet seated chairs, candelabra, fine tiny china, a second fireplace. The bathroom had all the latest amenities and included pink towels. The kitchen was red & white with fruit wallpaper, dishes were wooden and cups too! There was a sink, a pantry, and a wooden table and chairs.

Why am I telling you all this? Well, because this was my dream house. I use to sit and dream that I lived in this beautiful place. I dreamed of my family to come, husband and babies, all living here. This was a gift that I built my dreams upon.

The toys that "The Toy Maker" makes now are spectacular wooden vehicles, doll cradles, and jewelry boxes. The woods used in these gifts are not stained but are naturally colored woods that he finishes with clear sealers.

The vehicles are so detailed and very well built. It makes me want to be a little kid again, just to get one!
The cradles are perfect for a little doll. The jewelry boxes are for the older girls at the Orphanage.

The wood is gathered up thru the year and the few "sales" go directly to the wood for the upcoming year of toys. This truly shows a love of woodworking and a heart that is big enough to love so many other children. I'm very proud to call him "Dad".

This is the special gift we received for Christmas. The wooden nativity is made of many types of woods. I love it!

Enjoy! Merry Christmas & May God Bless each and every one of you!!

Enjoy!
