Bean Soup and Corn Bread ~ Friday Foods

Hi, Sweet Friends,

I posted the photo of this delicious meal on my Instagram page ( https://www.instagram.com/p/BjgXAQZlxW9/ ) before I had a chance to post up the recipes! LOL 


This is not my usual way of posting, so here is the recipe for Matt's Bean Soup and Corn Bread!
ENJOY! We sure did!!


Matt's Bean Soup cooked in Cast Iron Dutch Oven
2 Ham Bones with some ham on them
1 lb bag pinto beans
2 Large Onions
3 quarts of water & 2 to 3 quarts of water to cook the beans
Salt & Pepper 

Directions:

Bring to a boil and set it on simmer.
2 hours to cook the ham bones and meat, pull them out and set aside to cool. Pick meat off bones and add it back into the pot. 

Now, add another quart or more of water at this time to cook the beans. Cook according to the package directions.
Add the onion chopped, in the last hour of cooking the beans and meat together. Add water if it is getting low. Cook the beans about 4 hours or more till fork tender. High altitude cooks a bit longer.

Keep an eye on the browning. It should just be slightly browned.
