Sausages With Onion and Wine

Hi, Sweet Friends!

Today we are making a favorite French Dish called Sausages With Onions and Wine. I remember having this when I was young at my Great Grandmothers. She did a lot of French cooking as well as Southern cooking. This is one of my favorites that she made and she served it on homemade French Baguettes.
Top: Onions only, Left: Mustard & Onions, Right: Mustard only. Each of us likes it differently!

Sausages With Onions and Wine
Ingredients:
8 Sausages of your choice. We have used Brauts, Summer Sausage, Turkey Sausage and Chicken Sausages.
 2 large Onions, thinly sliced.
1 clove Garlic, minced.
1 Cup Dry White Wine.  We use local wines in our food.
Black Pepper
Crusty Bread, Baguettes, Wheat Bread or serve over hot wild rice.

Red Onions & Garlic

Directions:
1. In a frying pan, over medium heat, fry sausages, turning until all sides are brown and nearly cooked. Remove from pan and drain on paper towels.
2. Add to the pan, onion slices, garlic, and 2 Tablespoons of wine. Cook, stirring occasionally, until golden and soft.
3. Return Sausages to the pan, add the remaining wine, and black pepper, just a bit over top the sausages. Cook 10 minutes and serve.

Additions:
1 each, sliced Green Pepper, Red Pepper & Yellow Pepper

Recommended Sides:
 Mashed Potatoes
Broccoli
Wild Rice with cut up sausages, peppers, onion, and garlic on top.

This is a delicious dinner and one we love to share with the family.
You can also eliminate the wine, however, if you are using turkey or chicken sausages, you need to add a bit of liquid to cook the sausages, so they don't burn. I have used apple cider which is great for Fall & Winter flavors!

Try something new today!
Enjoy!
