18 Christmas Outdoor Lighting Ideas

Hi Sweet Friends,
Merry Christmas!
We are in full swing at our place. We have some of the lights up and some of the outdoor decorative pots and hanging pots done. I'll be doing a tutorial for the front door "Wreath" and showing how I do the lights on the indoor Christmas Tree.  So stay tuned!
Lake effect lights are so beautiful! We love his look and hope to be doing it on our place in the near future!!
This parade of lights is spectacular! Check your local city or town for a parade of lights near you.
Many of the major Zoo's have "Zoo Lights" that are amazing!
Here are our outdoor decorations from last year. The Grandkids loved the "Candy Land" road up to the house! We also added lights in the planters, large and small mixed lights on the house trims. The Icicle lights hand from the eves. The Starlight multicolored light projector make the snow have a blanket of colored dots! The cat loved them as they slipped thru the windows to the inside. He went crazy!
Everything is lit in this decorating theme! Abundant Light! Beautiful!
Cute idea adding a "North Pole" sign to lead visitors thru your outdoor light show!
A beautiful Christmas Ball Swag looks great on this red building. The Christmas Ball Wreath brings it all together. Add interest by putting Aspen twigs and branches into pots or buckets. Small Trees accent the doorway.
The use of these large vases make great outdoor luminaries. Black stones, berries and magnolia leaves accent these beautiful luminaries in the snow. I have also used battery operated candles in this type of luminary. It looks great and is easy to turn on and off when needed. Because we have pets who go outdoors, these are the more safe option than an open flame.

Keeping in the theme of lanterns and luminaries, here is a cool idea to put light into your trees with lanterns!
These lanterns shown above, have a regular bulb and wired chain, however, this can be achieved with solar lights inside the lanterns. They will not be as bright as these, but they do look spectacular!

These lighted balls in the urns look fabulous. The wired lights are wrapped around the wire ball frames and the battery control switch is then place inside the globe.
These terrific planters also feature battery lights that have been popped thru the planters woven basket. This is a neat garden light look. Very popular in gardens in our area.

Better Homes and Gardens always has great year round decorating ideas. Here they have used a box filled with lights and twigs to give a luminous display for a porch or in front of a building. Love this look!
These candle lit luminaries are placed in snow filled red rimmed galvanized buckets and ring this out door pine tree.
A garden arbor looks delightful in strings of white twinkle lights! Great for the warmer regions for Christmas light charm!
Swagged lights line this fence and the tree topiary light up in front of this home. Great Christmas "Curb Appeal"!
Filling window boxes with fresh greenery and lights is a great Christmas look! Add a few blocks of  "Wet" Oasis, push in the fresh pine branches, magnolia branches, or other leafy green branches for a longer season of green. The lights are great and can be used as a continual strand of electric lights, battery operated lights, or even a few solar lights popped here and there. It gives light and style to a seasonal spot.

I hope you gained some new ideas from this Christmas Outdoor Lighting Ideas blog post! I can say that this year, we are changing things up due to the landscaping we had done at the house this year. Our "side yard" has opened up greatly and we will be putting it to use with decorations and luminaries this Christmas Season! Stay tuned for more great ideas for Christmas Decorating, Food, and Gifts!
Enjoy!
