Rustic Decorating Ideas for Fall

Hi, Sweet Friends!
Today we are getting ready for Fall. Around the house we change up curtains, sheers, linens, lamp shades, pillows, throws, and place on the comfy slipcovers. In the bedrooms we change up the linens, bedding, and towels. In the bathrooms we change up the floor covers, towels & curtain. Burch Lane has some gorgeous linens just in time for the Fall Season. Fall colors & pictures, accessories, and textures are what it is all about!

Making everything look fresh for the seasonal change makes it easy to get in the mood of Summer's End. The photo above is a tablescape done up with a crate bottom, greenery, pumpkins in greens & white, and a wire cage. I like this look, though I would add a nice large white candle in the center to add a more cozy feel. The above photos are from Pinterest.

When changing the decor for the Seasons, it is good to have a color theme in mind. This may be a whole house color theme like in the Fall Banner I created. This Rustic Plaid look is very popular.
The plaids in this room play off the colors of Autumn and bring the room to life!

Using your everyday cupboards, shelves, and counters, you can display touches of Fall though out the house.

If we have company staying in the guest rooms, we also add these color changes to the guest bedrooms. Throw pillows are a fun addition and can liven or soften a room depending on the patterns and colors.  A nice set of towels set at the lower edge of the bed entices the guest to feel more at home. Include a small basket of travel toiletries to complete the gathering.
Little touches of Fall here and there. The simple "Thankful" sign is a great addition that doesn't take up precious counter space.

As we have a mini-kitchen in the guests living space, we often put out spiced teas, coffee, and candles in scents comparable to the Season. A set of dishes, cups & silverware placed next to the microwave make the guests stay a bit more convenient. The use of seasonal linens, napkins, dish towels, and oven mitt make a nice addition.

Here is a list of things to help make a home feel cozy for Fall:
  • Fall colored linens, table cloths, window coverings & kitchen linens.
  • Baskets, wooden plaques, and wooden items.
  • Dishes in a Fall color theme or pattern.
  • Curtains, headers, throws, pillows & lampshades.
  • Bedding, towels, shower curtains, and floor mats.
  • Natural grasses, branches, Autumn Wreaths, old farm items, lanterns, pictures, and vases.
  • Candles, wax melts, and simmering scents.
  • Teas, Coffee, & Cider.
  • Wreaths, dried grasses, dried sticks, silk flowers in fall colors and eucalyptus are great additions too!

This simple design incorporates a grass mat floor covering, a plaid throw & shams from Birch Lane, wooden objects, magnolia limbs, dried flowers and it is truly pretty and inviting.
And there are so many more things you can do to Fall up the house!
My biggest tip is to put these items into similar colored crates, to store away when not in use. Taking them out is such fun and the items always look nice and new!

I hope I have stirred your Autumn Imagination!
Enjoy!
